How To Soothe A Stubborn Diaper Rash.

My daughter was 6 months old when she had the worst diaper rash I had ever seen. Nothing seemed to soothe it, and no matter how quickly I changed her soiled diapers it wouldn’t relieve her pain. Her bottom was becoming bright red with some sores! Worse yet is that we couldn’t get an appointment with her pediatrician right away!

I bought so many different diaper creams that didn’t make much of a difference, and one diaper cream seemed to make her pain worse as she screamed more than she previously did. My heart was breaking watching her cry so much and not being able to find relief for her.

After scouring the internet for a solution I came across a few forums mentioning Calmoseptine. I carefully read through the conversations that mentioned this cream, and after further research I decided to give it a shot.

So what is Calmoseptine? According to the forum user, it’s an ointment her job as a nurse often uses on bedridden elderly patients to soothe their rashes and bed sores. According to the Calmoseptine website, here, it’s also used for:

My partner and I ran to Walgreens and picked up a tube of Calmoseptine, stocked near the adult diapers. At Walmart I grabbed a squeeze bottle and some large microfiber towels. I also recommend some accident pads!

After a phone conversation with my mom, I devised a routine in hopes that it would bring my daughter some respite until her appointment. The routine I used didn’t involve the accident pads because I forgot to grab them, but it otherwise went like this:

  1. Lay down an accident pad below your baby, preferably on the floor.
  2. Open the diaper to commence the diaper change.
  3. Use the squeeze bottle, filled with warm water, to rinse urine and poo off, and if you absolutely need to wipe use a microfiber towel cut into smaller squares and soaked in the warm water to gently wipe away the stubborn poo.
  4. Remove the soiled diaper, and let baby air dry. Air flow is good for baby’s bottom, and helps heal the rash!
  5. Once baby is dry, slather on a bit of Calmoseptine. A little goes a long way!
  6. Finally, put your baby’s clean diaper on, loosely!

Using this routine, Euni’s (my daughter) diaper rash was mostly gone by the end of the day! After all the creams we tried that didn’t work I was so happy to find a cream that did work. And quickly at that! She hasn’t had a rash since that incident, but I still keep the tube on hand in the caddy just in case!

*Disclaimers* I am not a medical professional! Please consult your baby’s pediatrician or exercise your own judgement if you do decide to use Calmoseptine! Be safe and remember every baby is different! My son responds just fine to Parent’s Choice diaper rash cream! My daughter is just very delicate, and that’s okay!

*This post is in no way affiliated or sponsored by Calmoseptine. I just absolutely love that it treated my daughter’s rash so quickly, she didn’t even cry when I applied it, unlike with the other creams!
